A day in the life

Working as an electrical contractor is a challenging yet rewarding job that requires a unique skillset and keen attention to detail. Whether they specialize in residential, industrial, or commercial services, the core of their job is based on the installation and maintenance of electrical systems.

Most electricians begin their days between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. They’re assigned a list of tasks for the day and provided with the tools and equipment to complete them. These tasks could be located at a single job site doing new construction and installation work or they may drive between multiple sites performing repairs and maintenance.

Each day offers new tasks and challenges. Some jobs may run like clockwork while other may require additional investigation to discover the root of the problem. This requires communiciation with their dispatcher to inform them of delays or complications so the daily schedule can be adjusted accordingly. While these unplanned complications can arise on occasion, it is incredibly rewarding when you are finally able to resolve the issue.

For people who want variety in their job location, the opportunity to work indoors and outdoors, and the ability to use both physical and mental dexterity to complete a task, being an electrican is a great career option. Electricians receive comprehensive training, competitive pay, and have many opportunities to move up in their careers.
